SiCKO

Wow, I just got finished watching Michael Moore's new film SiCKO and I urge all of you to go see it immediately! I had tears in my eyes and rage in my soul that this kind of insanity is going on, and I'm from Canada dammit! From a Canadian perspective this really intensifies my belief that public health care in this country must not be neglected or taken for granted. We must fund it properly so that private health insurance isn't even necessary. Full health care is the basic right of all Canadians and it is our moral obligation to fight for that right for our friends in the USA and around the world. I am appalled at the nonsense that my ortho amigos have to go through to get their procedures approved and the articles I've posted about the lack of funded dental care in Canada are a perfect illustration that even Canada isn't perfect. Go see this film now!!

'What can I do?' - SiCKO

Oh, and if you're an American looking to marry a Canadian so you can get health care, check out Hook A Canuck! And yes I'm single but I can only take one, so put your application in early. :P

I've heard similar reviews from friends. They said the audience applauded a few times DURING the film. Can't wait to go see it next chance I get!

By the way, funny note on marrying Canadians! :P

Hmm...I haven't seen this film yet. But I've heard horror stories from the Doctors that did their residencies or fellowships in the USA. Public healthcare is SO important to my own personal peace of mind, lol.

Hello Graham,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I have read your whole blog and between you and Brandy, I have learned alot. I had SARPE on June 1st and my upper braces were placed this past Wednesday. You are the only one who wrote that you had a tough time eating and biting down for a while. I am really struggling with that. It just doesn't feel right or solid enough for that much pressure. Maybe I'm just scared and I should push myself. Anyway, my next surgery is supposed to be Lefort I, not sure when that will take place but, I am extremely nervous and I am trying to learn as much as I can about it. I alraedy told the Ortho I'm not sure if I want to do it but I also don't want to stop half way through the process.
Anyway, thanks so much for all of your info. I hope we can communicate about all of this.
Take care.
Michelle

Michelle: Wow, you read the entire blog, I'm so humbled. I'm glad you found it helpful. :) Well congrats on your SARPE and I gather you must be finished all your expansion now too, so now you're on to the real healing part!

Yes, I remember that biting down was rather difficult at first but the more that my gap closed the easier it became, so I think it's quite normal for you right now. I wouldn't try to push yourself, just go with what's comfortable and things will improve eventually for sure.

I doubt your le forte will be any time soon, several months to a year or more depending on how crooked your teeth are. So that means you'll have tons of time to learn about it. I was anxious too but the more I learned the more at ease I felt, and now I just can't wait for it because I'm really looking forward to the results! Mine is happening some time this fall so you get to watch me go through it before you do. You've read my blog and probably a few of the folks I have linked, and if we are any example for you then I think you will be very happy you did it in the end. The photos really speak for themselves.

Anyway feel free to drop me a line at my usual email address gstephen at hotmail anytime.
